I hope through this website to be able to give anyone thinking that the Alapaha may be the right breed for them an honest opinion on the breed and their suitability as a family pet.
First a little about me and my ABBB's
I have searched long and hard for the right breed for me and none have really ticked all of my boxes. That was of course before I came across the Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog on a trip to the US and was completely smitten. They are the most stunning dogs and the perfect size, coat and temperament to be the best companion for my family. I have two of these truely fabulous dogs and I will be taking part in Kennel Club Good Citizen Obedience training with them along with Agility when they are old enough and Showing. I am lucky enough to have several acres here at home and the dogs have plenty of exercise. I also have young children and lots of other animals about from horses, to cats, chickens, geese, rabbits and guinea pigs so, they have plenty to see and do (there is never a dull moment !!) and they have completely sound temperaments.
Both of my Alapaha's are proving to be extremely good examples of the breed, they have both been Microchipped, Heart and Eye tested clear, will be DNA Profiled and are waiting for Hip scores and OFA to be done at 2 years of age.
I am a very big believer in that breeding should be done in the right way and for the right reasons. I will not be breeding my dogs just to have litters of puppies to sell. I will only ever breed if I want a puppy from the litter to keep myself and therefore will never be offering pick of litter for sale, unless there is nothing suitable (colour/sex) in the litter for me. I have already had many enquiries about puppies and would therefore ask anyone genuinely looking for an ABBB to complete the puppy questionare. I will then access your suitability for the breed and pass your details on to a reputable breeder that may be able to help.
Anyone considering getting a dog of any breed should thoroughly research the health tests applicable for that breed and make sure that the breeder has copies of all certificates available for any potential puppy purchaser to see. There is no excuse for not seeing these certificates and if you cannot then walk away.
I have not bought my Alapaha's as a money making venture and I have no interest in those that have. They are my pets, I love them and will do what I can to help the breed become known as a lovable, loyal family pet in the UK. They are not remotely aggressive dogs and anyone looking for a 'macho', dog aggressive breed should look elsewhere.
Anyone looking for an Alapaha is more then welcome to email me for advise and a friendly chat.
